With the sales season in full swing, Simon has been busy trying to find our next crop of stable stars. The Inglis Classic sale saw some incredibly strong results and we were fortunate to walk away with some quality yearlings ready to join the stable. As you all know, Simon is not one to get swept up in the hype and is very meticulous in only buying the right horses at the right value and we did just that.
We have shares now available in the following three yearlings:
LOT 64 – So You Think x Mega Mall Filly
As you were able to see on the day, she’s a great moving filly who we see being at her best at 1400m+ as a 3yo. Champion stallion So You Think needs no introduction and Simon has had a lot of success with the, So You Think progeny including Group 3 winner Dirty Thoughts and metropolitan winner, So You Swing. As Australia’s premier stallion of 1600m+ horses, he’s regularly producing stakes winners including weight-for-age stars Think It Over, Quick Thinker and D’Argento. The filly’s dam Mega Mall was a city performed winner of four races and had plenty of ability.
LOT 406 – Sacred Falls x Baysa Colt:
He’s a super athletic colt with a huge overstep we were pleased to secure at the price. We think it’ll be very hard to buy these middle distance/staying types this year, so we’ve targeted this sale as a chance to buy one. Sacred Falls has been an exceptional stallion on our shores producing stars such as Group 1 winner Aegon and recent ‘The Invitation’ winner Icebath. As you can see from the video, we were pretty taken with him at first glance and can see him developing into a smart three year old who will train on and be a durable racehorse. Simon has dreams of winning the Victoria Derby and we’re hoping this colt will get us there. His dam was a very talented mare which the pedigree page doesn’t do justice, finishing only 2.6L from star filly Egg Tart in the G1 QLD Oaks.
LOT 622 – Merchant Navy x I’ll Decide Colt:
We were really excited to be able to find this colt given the popularity of the Merchant Navy progeny. Merchant Navy has now had 2 x two year old winners from his first crop and there’s no doubt they’ll be better at three. He’s a running type of colt we’d expect to get to the races as a two year old if all goes well. He’s got a great attitude and powerful hindquarter and we’re excited to get him into the stable and wear our colours. His three year old half-sister Lockdown Sally ran an unlucky 2nd in a metropolitan race in Adelaide on the weekend and looks a very talented filly.
