Exciting times at Simon Zahra racing with some real momentum building off the back of Tavisteel’s win in the VIEW Melbourne Maiden Plate at Terang on Sunday.
After drawing the perfect barrier, apprentice Alana Kelly was able to put her on a nice position midfield on the rail. She travelled beautifully thoughout the race and the pace quickened well before the bend. The 3yo Tavistock filly found plenty as she moved through her gears and finished strongly to hold off the David Brideoake trained Dunalley who was flying down the outside.
Tavisteel is a filly Simon has a lot of time for and we hope to see her in metropolitan grade next time, with a trip to Adelaide potentially on the cards. Congratulations to her owners who have been patient and allowed Simon to give the filly the time she needs to fulfil her potential. We’re confident we’ll be having a lot of fun with her this campaign and then into the Spring.
Tavisteel filly was purchased from Yulong Farm for just $40,000 from the 2020 Melbourne Premier Sale and she looks like she’ll well and truly pay for herself in the long run. If you’re looking for a super value staying filly from the same farm, we’ve bought a lovely Grunt filly there this year for just $20,000 with 10% still available. Hopefully lightning can strike twice!
