HORSE PROFILE

Simon has always been a big fan of the progeny of Castelvecchio, and this colt from Arrowfield Stud was one we kept coming back to during inspections.

Castelvecchio continues to produce horses with genuine staying ability and toughness — traits we value highly when shopping at this sale. His stock often improve with age and racing, making them very rewarding ownership prospects.

With progeny such as G1 winner Aeliana, El Castello and our own Onavuitton flying the flag, his stock are getting harder to purchase, so to secure him for $80,000 was a great result for the stable.

This colt is out of a Snitzel mare in Roseito and is a lovely, rangy individual with plenty of scope – Arrowfield liked him so much that they are staying involved in the ownership which is always a positive lead from such a respected farm.

He has a fluent walk and looks every inch a horse that will appreciate time, distance and patience. He’s exactly the sort you allow to develop with being there for the Classic races during the Spring as a 3YO and beyond.

A horse we believe will be very rewarding for his owners.

 

PEDIGREE ANALYSIS

Lot 361, Inglis Classic Yearling Sale 2026 – View Pedigree

A colt who looks to be a lovely combination of his high achieving sire and his outstanding dam sire Snitzel, this dashing bay is one of only 25 colts from Castelvecchio’s fourth crop.
That dual Gr.1 winner is in flying form; 24 winners already this year with Aeliana just recently weekend recording her second elite level success.

Also sire of the Gr.1 winner El Castello and four other stakes winners amongst his first 62 winners, Castelvecchio is a stallion on the up.

Bred on the same Dundeel (Castelvecchio’s six time Gr.1 winning sire)/Snitzel cross as the two time Gr.1 winner Celestial Legend, this colt is out of the very good racemare Roseito.
A daughter of the Champion Sire Snitzel who already has 47 stakes winners (six at Gr.1 level) as a broodmare sire, Roseito ran extremely well at each of her eight starts – creating a big impression with a barnstorming debut victory enroute to metropolitan success.

A two time winner who was also in the placings on three occasions, Roseito is faring nicely as a broodmare with her first foal Berardino a stakes placegetter who ran very well in the VRC Derby. Her second foal Rezone won three in a row over the summer and that metropolitan winner has more to come. As does Roseito’s third foal Bellini Spritz who has three wins and five placings on the board from her first nine starts.

Roseito’s classy dam Bellini Rose won eight of her 26 starts (placed seven times) including the Gr.2 Rose Of Kingston Stakes. Competitive in Gr.1 company, she produced the Gr.1 South Australian Derby winner Howard Be Thy Name. This is one of Australasia’s finest families, this colt able to boast amongst his relations the big race winners Ethereal, Romanee Conti, Grand Echezeaux, Darci Brahma and Maison Louis.
