HORSE PROFILE

You won’t find too many pedigree pages that feature as many G1 winners and stallions as this colt.

Maurice himself is a G1 winner and G1 producing stallion, and dam Oohood a G1 Winner in the Flight Stakes as well as being placed in a Golden Slipper & Sires Produce. Plus, successful stallions Not A Single Doubt, Zizou & King’s Legacy also feature in the family of this colt!

When you then look beyond the pedigree, you’ll see an athletic colt with a fluent walk and great attitude. He took everything in his stride at the busy sales complex and during inspections, which is a perfect quality for a horse headed to Flemington for his training base.

An athletic colt who is light on his feet, we think he will be at his best from 1600m and beyond – a perfect candidate for the Guineas or a Derby as a three-year old.

Well and truly proving himself with his 35 stakes winners including seven Gr.1 winners, the brilliant and versatile Maurice (Japanese Horse Of The Year, a six time Gr.1 winning sire of high class sprinters, milers and stayers) gets the best out of his mares. And with all studies showing that Gr.1 mares make great broodmares, this colt has plenty going for him!

For his dam Oohood – a member of one of Australia’s finest families – was very classy indeed, and fast. Third in the Blue Diamond Stakes and second in the Golden Slipper (only just beaten by Estijaab) and the ATC Sires Produce Stakes (again only just missing out on the prize), Oohood had her Gr.1 breakthrough at three when taking out the Flight Stakes.

And she has made a lovely start to her broodmare career with her second foal Bancory Bay a city winner whilst her third Woosh (a $380,000 yearling) was stakes placed at her recent debut.
A daughter of Champion Sire I Am Invincible, Oohood is one of the ten winners produced by the metropolitan winning Sunday Silence mare Bella Sunday whose stakes placed daughter Breakfast In Bed produced the dual Gr.1 winning two-year-old King’s Legacy.

Bella Sunday’s grandam is the outstanding matriarch Easy Date – dam of the high class racehorse and stallion Snippets and ancestress of another 34 stakes winners with Forensics, Rewaaya, Ertijaal and Sense Of Occasion also being Gr.1 winners.

This colt is bred on a 4 X 3 cross of the legendary stallion Sunday Silence with his daughter Running Heroine being the dam of Maurice’s sire Screen Hero… and Maurice picks up strongly on his influence with 19 of his stakes winners including the Gr.1 winners Admire Zoom and Geraldina being line-bred to him.
